Aluthgama has a lot of tourists, so you may want to avoid the "commission boys" around the fish market and the railway crossing.
They will approach you and offer to show you around but also expect a fee for the "guided" tour.
Ask your tourguide from Travelinlanka to show you a more peacefull place to shop, perhaps Dharga Town.
